Your app never talks to the provider directly. Every request goes through the API Profile gateway, which checks your key and quota, forwards the call, and returns the provider's response unchanged.

Limits & responses

Successful calls return the provider's status and body unchanged. Every response also carries your remaining quota: X-RateLimit-Remaining-Day and X-RateLimit-Remaining-Month. Gateway errors are JSON: {"error": "…", "message": "…"}.

Status	Error	Meaning
401	missing_credentials	No API key was sent.
401	invalid_key	The key is wrong, was rotated, or the subscription is not active.
403	wrong_api	The key belongs to a subscription for a different API.
403	subscription_expired	The paid period has ended — renew to continue.
404	api_not_found	The API slug is wrong or the API is not active.
429	rate_limit_exceeded	Too many requests per second — retry after the Retry-After header.
429	quota_exceeded	Daily or monthly plan quota used up — wait for the reset or upgrade your plan.
502	upstream_unavailable	The provider could not be reached. Retry later.

Keep your key safe

Call the API from your server, not from browser or mobile code where the key can be read.
Store the key in an environment variable or secret manager — never commit it.
If a key leaks, rotate it from your subscription page; the old key stops working immediately.
